A couple of patent drawings have found their way onto the web and according to CarScoop, the pictures you see here are of the new upcoming Dodge SUV / Crossover. Spy shots and rumors from around the web say that these are images of the new 2012 Dodge Durango, which will most likely be based on the new 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee, which itself is derived from the latest Mercedes-Benz ML.

Powertrain choices are likely to consist of the 280-hp 3.6L Pentastar V6 and the 360-hp 5.7L V8 HEMI.

Out-of-date: the traditional cross in the grill will continue as element of identity only on Ram trucks, since Dodge is launching a new style and logo for its new cars.

Then maybe they'll release it under the Ram brand instead of Dodge. It does fit that platform more does it not? As an owner of one of the first gen Durango's they seem to be re-capturing that style instead of later versions (thank God). I've had mine for more than 10 years and I can't break it. I'll hold off purchasing a Traverse/4-Runner/Explorer until they unveil it. Nice work Dodge….or, Ram!
