Honda Accord dethrones Toyota Camry as best-selling mid-size sedan in Jan.

By now you’re probably getting annoyed with all the Toyota recall news, but we can’t help it – it’s just so fascinating. Continuing with the pedal recall fiasco, Toyota today found itself in a deeper hole after the Honda Accord dethroned the Toyota Camry as the best-selling mid-size sedan in January.

Due to sales stoppage, Toyota Camry sales fell 24 percent to 15,792 units, coming in behind the Honda Accord, which was up 14.7 percent with 19,022 units sold (20,759 including the Accord Crosstour). Nissan also sold more Altimas with a total 18,636 units sold for an increase of 31.8 percent.

The Chevrolet Malibu had an outstanding January with an increase of 76.5 percent for a total of 16,439 units sold.

Whether or not the Toyota Camry will finally be dethroned for the full year remains to be seen.
