Apple co-founder says Toyota acceleration issue related to software glitch, not pedal
Steve Wozniak, the co-founder of Apple Computer and an owner of many Toyota Prius hybrid models said at a conference in San Francisco that Toyota’s unintended acceleration issues are related to a software glitch and not a bad accelerator pedal.
“I have many models of Prius that got recalled, but I have a new model that didn”t get recalled,” Wozniak said. “The new model has an accelerator that goes wild but only under certain conditions of cruise control. And I can repeat it over and over and over again safely.”
Wozniak said that he has been trying to contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and Toyota for three months but was unable to get anyone to test a software-related issue.
Toyota spokesman John Hanson said that Toyota has found no evidence of an electronic or software problem.
