Remember Mercury? That third brand in the FoMoCo lineup next to Ford and Lincoln? While Mercury hasn’t shown a new car or new concept since before any of us were born, CEO Alan Mulally doesn’t seem to want to give up on the brand just yet.
Asked at the 2010 Washington Auto Show whether or not Mercury has a future, Mulally replied: “The plan right now is (to develop) Ford, Lincoln and Mercury.”
He said that the plan is to position Mercury with smaller vehicles that fill the void between mainstream Ford and Lincoln branded vehicles.
Mercury to become a more Scion type brand for FoMoCo? We can see that.
