Now that FoMoCo has finally decided to beef up the Mustang GT, we’re wondering if you would buy the new pony from Ford over the Camaro SS given that you’re in the market (or fantasy market) for a new muscle car.

Just as a quick comparison, the 2010 Chevrolet Camaro SS is powered by a 6.2L V8 making 426-hp with a peak torque of 420 lb-ft and comes standard with a 6-speed manual transmission. Prices start at $30,945.

The 2011 Ford Mustang GT is powered by a new 5.0L V8 making 412-hp with a maximum torque of 390 lb-ft. It is mated to a 6-speed manual as standard. According to leaked pricing from yesterday, the 2011 Mustang GT will start at $29,645.

I would still pick the Camaro SS.

I agree. Sticking to my guns with our Bumblebee. Camaro SS for me.

The Mustang all the way, it was already out handling the Camero and I have heard very bad things about the interior of the camero, horrible blind spots and really bad visibility plus really bad looking gages. Now the new mustang will be faster then the Camero on a track and in a straight line the HP and TQ are similar until you realize that the Mustang weights about 250 pounds less. The only reason to get the Camero SS is if you really prefer the styling or are a chevy fanboy/ford hater. Otherwise the 2011 mustang will stomp the camero SS in any performance testing.

It really doesn't matter what the stats are in either of these cars. There will be Mustang faithfuls and Camaro faithfuls. I myself decided at the age of 6 i liked mustangs, mostly because I thought a Camaro was a vegetable. Mustang all the way.

Tough call because both cars are so darn compelling. If my ship comes in tomorrow, I'll order one of each ….. but since I still live in the real world and have to spend hard-earned real $$$ money, I plan on ordering a 2011 Mustang V6 Premium with 6-speed manual transmission and short gearing (if available) with the Performance Pack and LSD all wrapped up in Sunset Gold Pearl paint.

T-H-A-N-K Y-O-U Ford and Chevrolet for keeping the dream alive!

It would have to be the Mustang GT with the “Track Pac”

    Muststang on price and weight.
Camaro if only on Looks. (BADASS!)

You know its the five point oh!!!! I'm gonna wait for a white convertible with a white leather interior so I can be like the new Vanilla Ice.

  • Al

    Mustang!

  • Tenrten

No one and I mean no one!!!! should buy a gm car till Obama is out of office and out of gm!!!!!!!, That said the Camaro if they had a convert.. since they dont I would buy the Mustang Conv

  • Jason

Unless you plan to actually race, the camaro is the way to go. Plus who ever thought that the camaro's gauges were ugly has a mental issue.

  • AwesomeBob

    ROFL

  • aelalaily

I would go for the Mustang. I just like it better!

Camaro SS all the way. Z28 is coming….

  • Bobmarley

they are both great options…especially with the new 2011 mustang. The V8 power is awesome but the best part is the respectable power from the entry level V6's (300+ hp and good MPG's). You couldn't pay me to buy an older 210hp V6 mustang, you have to be gay man or a woman…sorry if i offend anyone but its the truth!

  • stevenyaxley

btw the z28 isnt coming because the government wont let them. thats why the ford would be the best choice. ford was ranked as the #1 best improved brand name in 2009. the current mustang with 100hp is pretty close to the same performace level as the camaro ss. so with extra power the mustang should be way better with the 5.0. interior styling in the mustang doesnt wmake you feel like your driving a clown car. and the mustang is a way better track car suspension wise already. and their improving that too.

  • Frank

Ford may less HP but at 300lbs lighter should have the edge……………..

  • Jeff

Z28 is coming..lmao yea driven by santa claus. The mustang is a half second faster than the Camaro and $2k cheaper. Not to mention GM's quality sucks.

  • Rock

“Rollin in my 5.0″…mustang all the way…had an 89' 5.0 and it was a beast back in those days….this 2011 5.0 is gonna be hard to beat. Hook a supercharger or twin turbos to it and you could easily see 600-650 hp at the flywheel….thats corvette zr-1 territory…gotta go with the stang. Camaro is just to heavy and the interior gauge cluster looks like elton johns glasses.

  • robert2011

The original pony car because camero is so ugly it just cries out gay motors.they should come in colors pink and rainbow paint! The mustang has better looking interior and high revving 4valve 5.0 engine. hp to weight ratio is correct a pony car

Or they just have an opinion.
