BMW 7-speed double-clutch

BMW has confirmed that its 2011 BMW 135i model will get its 7-speed double clutch automatic transmission as an option. The transmission will replace the current 6-speed automatic while the Getrag 6-speed manual will remain standard.

The optional transmission is expected to increase fuel-economy and performance of the 135i’s new N55 inline-6 engine with a single twin-scroll turbocharger and BMW’s Valvetronic electric-motor-driven variable-valve-lift technology.

The 2011 BMW 335is that we told you about earlier this morning will also get the 7-speed DCT automatic as an option.
