1952 Jaguar C-Type

Remember last year we told you that Jaguar’s design boss Ian Callum was already working on an XJ Coupe? Well, it was a lie (not told by us). According to a source inside Jaguar, there are no plans for an XJ Coupe and there never were; however, the automaker is working on the much-anticipated C-Type convertible.

The source said that the C-Type convertible has been given the green light and will arrive as a 2012 model to compete with the Audi TT, BMW Z4 and the Mercedes-Benz SLK.

Internally referred to as the “small sports car,” the model will feature an aluminum monocoque and may be available as a coupe and a soft-top convertible. We’ll bring you more details as we get them.
