2010 Saab 9-5

As General Motors gets ready to sell or wind down Saab, the automaker is rumored to be planning on saving the 9-5 sedan as a rebadged Buick. According to a report by Dagens, GM is seeing positive opportunities to closing Saab including selling Beijing Automotive Industry Holdings Co. Ltd (BAIC) of certain Saab 9-3, current 9-5 and powertrain technology and tooling.

Of course, you should take this report with a grain of salt since Buick already has a successful mid-size sedan – the 2010 LaCrosse.

Sources are also saying that GM may export some of Saab’s technology for a new premium Opel vehicle.

That might get me to buy an “American” car again. But knowing GM they'll only offer them with automatic transmissions. Aside: I went car shopping with my parents over Christmas weekend. They were looking for a Buick but the dealers had Zero stock – or only one of each model they would not sell but would allow them to test drive. I think I would ask my parents to hold out for the Saab/Buick.

GM sell Saab! If Ford was able to sell Volvo so can you.

There have been 3 buyers that have stated their willingness to buy Saab. Konigsegg, Merbanco and Spyker. Why are you stalling?

We are in a recession. The American taxpayer lent you (GM) billions and now you are planning to shut down Saab without getting a penny back? As a taxpayer I feel that you are not worthy of being saved by the U.S. government. Cut the bureaucratic madness, sell Saab.

Actually, this SAAB 9-5 would fit quite well as a rebadged Opel car above the Insignia, since this Saab is bigger than the Insignia. It's just sad that such an awesome car will never be put on sale, when all the work's done so far. Such a waste of money.
