Ford hoping to catch premium prices with 2011 Fiesta

Ford is poised to evolve the small-car market to include premium priced vehicles with the introduction of the 2011 Ford Fiesta which, fully loaded, will command a price in excess of $23,000. With the price already announced, Ford has been able to lock down 1,000 orders, says FoMoCo group VP of global marketing Jim Farley.

The Fiesta will go on sale this coming summer with a base price tag of $13,995 including shipping for the sedan, and $15,795 for the five-door. The Focus will start at $16,535, shipping included. Farley addressed the wants of upscale consumers who value both fuel-efficiency and high-tech gadgets.

Australian consumers are already accepting of and willing to pay premium prices for fully loaded Fiestas.
