Decision on production Volkswagen BlueSport coming soon
Speaking to AutoCar at the 2009 LA Auto Show, Volkswagen’s head of R&D Ulrich Hackenberg, said that he expects a final decision to be made on the BlueSport Concept within the next few months.
“It”s a personal favourite car of mine,” Hackenberg said , “and I would expect a final commitment to its future to be made by the VW Group within the next few months.”
Power for the Volkswagen BlueSport Concept comes from a 2.0 TDI common-rail injection that makes a total of 180-hp. It runs from 0 to 62 in 6.6 seconds with a top speed of 140 mph. The engine is mated to a 6-speed DSG gearbox, a start/stop system and brake energy regenerations for fuel-saving purposes.
It was reported last month that Volkswagen will use its recently purchased Karmann site to build a production version of the BlueSport Concept.
