2009 LA: 2011 Ford Mustang 3.7L V6

  • Key Competitors: 2010 Chevrolet Camaro, 2010 Dodge Challenger, 2009 Nissan 370z, 2010 Hyundai Genesis Coupe.
  • Power: 3.7L V6 Ti-VCT – 305-hp / 280 lb-ft.
  • Transmission: 6-speed manual, 6-speed automatic.
  • Availability: Late 2010.
  • Pricing: TBA.

Ford has finally made the muscle car game more exciting by announcing that the 2011 Ford Mustang V6 will get a new 305-hp 3.7L V6 engine next year. Ford says that the Ti-VCT allows the 2011 Mustang to return an estimated 19/30 mpg (city/highway) with a 6-speed automatic and 18/29 with a 6-speed manual.

305-hp and 30 mpg on the highway one-ups the 2010 Camaro’s 304-hp and 29 mpg.

No word yet on what the 315-hp Ford GT upgrades will include. Stay tuned.

    With 300 lbs. less weight, a far nicer interior, and overall more livable car, this engine is all the Mustang will need to thoroughly mop the floor with the Camaro.

    Even though HP is close to the Camaro V6 it will easily dispose of it since the Mustang is almost 600lbs lighter ( the new mustang engine is about 50 pounds lighter then the current V6 is)
