Tata Group’s chairman Ratan Tata told a South Korean newspaper that the company is considering a hybrid version of the Tata Nano to take the environment-friendly nature of the minicar one step further. Maeil Business Newspaper quoted Tata saying that low-priced goods would create stronger demand than high-end products in India, and the so-called low-price revolution would continue across the world.

Tata did not give exact details of the hybrid powertrain or how much the model would cost over the base $2,000 Nano.

It was reported last month that Tata is looking to increase production of the Nano by 20 percent.
