I stopped driving Saabs after GM initially took over in 1989 - mainly b/c GM closed all the good Saab dealerships within 250 miles from my home followed by the bland product line. The new 9-5 however... I was going to get one, looks like I never will now.

I had hoped that Koenigsegg was going to complete the deal and be able to improve the Saab product line. Not going to happen now.

Before GM's purchase of Saab, the marque used to be a car with Euro sedan sportiness and desirability. Under GM, Saab lost all performance aspects in favor of Euro luxury via shared platforms with Opel and other GM models. Oh and let us not forget the Saab that was based on a Subaru model.

Under GM's stewardship, GM ran the Saab cache into the ground turning a great car company into a pile of crap.

I'd rather drive a Toyota Starlet than a Saab! Saab never really cared to build a good handling car!
