Video: Clarkson pins Audi R8 V10 against the Chevrolet Corvette ZR1

If you missed Top Gear this past weekend, you missed a pretty exciting segment where Jeremy Clarkson test-drives the Audi R8 5.2 FSI V10 and compares it to GM’s Chevrolet Corvette ZR1. Audi R8 5.2 V10 FSI: Power comes from a 5.2L V10 producing a total of 528-hp. Mated to a R-tronic transmission the R8 5.2 V10 FSI quattro goes from 0 to 60 mph comes in just 3.9 seconds with a top speed of 196 mph.
Chevrolet Corvette ZR1: LS9 supercharged 6.2L V8 engine producing 638-hp and 604 lb-ft of torque. 0 to 60 mph comes in 3.4 seconds with a top speed of 205 mph.

    agreed they're dead on. odd that the ZR1 had that many break downs though. most of those things are the same in all corvettes and none of the corvette owners I know have had problems anywhere near that bad....staged for added contrast perhaps? the worst problem any of my older buddies w/ vettes have had was a ticket for 95 in a 35 lol

    I have an 03 C5 Z06. The LS6 engine is bullet proof. Only problem I ever had was when my key got stuck in the ignition. Biggest plus besides the purchase price is the maintenance cost are comparable to a typical GM car. Oil changes don't cost $200 bucks. I don't have to take out a mortgage to get my brakes replaced. New tires tend to be pricey though.

    $40,000 more for the R8 should give you a little more refinement than what you find in the ZR1...so you get what you pay for. Same goes for the AWD. Most of us mortals couldn't even unleash the potential of a Z06 let alone a base LS3
