This may be true but I really don't know what the Oldsmobile market was? I think Buick already overlapped that market (if there was any market?). And I don't think Pontiac owners will shift over to Buick…even if this is Buick's goal…it just sounds wrong. Pontiac to Chevy makes a lot more sense.

But Buick seems to be positioning itself to cover both former Pontiac and Oldsmobile markets – as well as the aging Buick market. While Chevy looks to be strictly entry level. And a turbo 4 with manual is a concept that the Europeans conquered 20 years ago. And this Regal is as stylish as my 2001 1/2 Passat – turbo 4 with manual tranny and will certainly get better mpg than the Regal. If they want to attract a younger market, then a 2.0 liter diesel with 6-speed would be a better bet and/or a hybrid model. But my biggest beef is how GM cars are so seriously overpriced. They are still 5 years behind asian and europeans but price there cars similarly. They should seriously think of discounting the sticker prices to boost sales rather than insane discounts and rebates – especially when I can purchase a fully loaded C-Class with manual transmission for less than a Caddy CTS w/ manual.

the old buick buyers will have good ole memories of driving a stick but will still preffer the easier auto. Maybe they are trying to make Buick more appealing to other demographics? But I really dont think their is a need for Buick to offer the 6spd stick unless they can produce something that really (really really!!!) appeals to the younger generations…but if they do that I think they are stepping out of their target market and into a market that Chevy should cover

Wow, I don't know how blatantly a company can rip off the shifter from a BMW 5-series. This looks EXACTLY like the shifter from the sport auto 5-series.

What a treat for Buick buyers!!!

Most of them learned to drive on a manual transmission car and this will bring back memories, but not sales. I wonder what Buick has predicted the sales for manual transmissions will be – 1% or 2%?

Will there be any Buick sales people that will know how to drive a stick shift? this could be fun.
