VW gets 65,000 applications to build mid-size sedan in Chattanooga

According to Chattanoogan.com, Volkswagen has received 65,000 applications for about 2,000 positions for its new plant in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Volkswagen of America accepted applications for about three weeks.

Volkswagen plans to kick off production of a new mid-size sedan at Chattanooga in 2011. The automaker has yet to decided on the official name of the sedan, which will replace the Passat in the United States. CEO Stefan Jacoby said that the company has plans to sell 100,000 units annually and also has plans to export the U.S. built sedan.
