2011 Buick Regal

The Buick Regal, once known for great performance, is going to be reintroduced next year with the intent of re-establishing Buick as a volatile performance car manufacturer.

The 2011 Regal, which is essentially a rebadged five-passenger Opel Insignia sedan, gets Buick’s distinct grille and a few minor interior and exterior differences is all the really distinguishes one from the other.

The Regal continues Buick’s recent movement to resuscitate the label and reclaim a younger market; the average Buick buyer today is 70 years old. The Enclave crossover and the LaCrosse sedan launched the movement, and now the Regal comes in to play to target buyers in their 40’s and 50’s, specifically those interested in the Acura TSX, Audi A4, and Volvo S60.

At launch, the 2011 Buick Regal will be available with a 182-hp 2.4L 4-cylinder engine. A 220-hp 2.4L 4-cylinder turbocharged will join the lineup in summer 2010. Buick hasn’t announced anything about offering a V6 variant of the new Regal.

"...the Regal comes in to play to target buyers in their 40’s and 50’s, specifically those interested in the Acura TSX, Audi A4, and Volvo S60."

Those are the cars that are sought out by people that think like old people. You know them as the people that are 45 years old, but act like they are 70 years old. If they pick up some Acura, Audi and Volvo owners they will still be catering to the 70 year old mindset.

And where did "intent of re-establishing Buick as a volatile performance car manufacturer." come from? Who is Buick kidding? Volatile performance car? Front wheel drive and a four cylinder engine?

The last performance car Buick had was over 20 years ago - the GNX.

The Next Gen Sonata will blow this car away. It will be equipped with a state of the art 2.4L DI 4Cyl with 210 HP that gets 35 MPG a 275 HP 2.4 DI Turbo 4 Cyl that gets 32 MPG. The Interior of the Next gen Sonata is better as well.
