2011 Buick Regal

Yesterday, General Motors unveiled the new 2011 Buick Regal, which is making its public debut today in Los Angeles. In its press release GM said that the Buick Regal’s key competitors include the Acura TSX, Volvo S60, Mazda 6 and Volkswagen Passat.

As GM does the whole “May the best car win” campaign, we figured we’d run a little test of our own out of curiosity. Based on what you know about the 2011 Buick Regal, would you pick it over its key competitors?

Let us know in the poll below – if you have something to say, follow the jump for the comments section.

Refresher: The 2011 Buick Regal will be available in two options including a 182-hp 2.4L 4-cylinder and a 220-hp 2.4L 4-cylinder turbocharged. Estimated fuel-economy for the non-turbocharged model comes in at 20/30 mpg (city/highway). The 2011 Regal will be built in Russelsheim, Germany, giving it the handling and dynamics of a premium European sport sedan.

Looks promising on paper but it looks a little bland – Acura TSX for me.

i cant believe im about to say this… but buick finally did it right =O i love the design of the upcoming S60 so the regal doesnt win that one, but the TSX, 6, and Passat should cry over this beauty

You have to love it when the GM employees stuff the ballot box.

Cadillac and Buick are for the older set and that will be the perception for decades to come.

Also, there is a big difference between what you say you like and what you will actually buy. The taxpayers cannot be paid back based on a survey ballot box stuffed by GM employees or by what someone says they “like”. I love the Nissan LEAP (frog), but I will never buy one.

Nah, not for model year 2011, maybe 2015. I want to make sure there is a running reliability record and the survival rate of the brand before flopping down 30k for one. I would get a 2011 Avalon and wait and see …

looks sharp. the reputation of “Buick” carries too much baggage. they need to drop Buick and introduce a new line.

The new Regal in interesting for Buick none-the-less…but it is still badge-engineering, which is nothing new from GM (like many other companies). This leaves me with a deep feeling of cost-cutting. So. Sad.

Of course GM had to go to Germany to get a car that would compete with German manufacturers. The Buick name has way too many negative connotations. GM should spend less time on badge engineering and more time on building an American made car that will compete with the best automobiles around the world. Maybe then I will consider buying …. gulp! …. a Buick.

  • GMfan87

sit in a CTS, trust me it competes and then some.

Yes, Cadillac has done a remarkable job of remaking itself from what it once was and is producing some nice vehicles. But still, where did the origins of today's Cadillacs come from? Saab.

  • GMfan87

saab? how so? if anything i could see connections with holden due to the sigma platform. but with such a global company you can't expect any car to not share something with the others. that would be completely impractical.

it was designed, engineered, and is built in america. that's good enough for me.

“it was designed, engineered, and is built in america. that's good enough for mer comment here.”

    LOL. LOL.
Can't understand what's so difficult to know what's meant by “will be built in Russelsheim, Germany”. Germany, when did Germany move to become part of America?

Did anyone remember Saturn L200/300? Also derived from Germany's Opel Vectra. Same 'heritage'.
