Dodge Ram

According to Ram CEO Fred Diaz, the new Ram truck brand, which will now operate separately from Dodge, may expand into the heavy-truck 18-wheel segment. The brand will also add a Fiat based van to its lineup by 2012.

“Ram and Dodge clearly have a different mission to convey to our customers.” Diaz said. “Ram must focus on truck customers and commercial vehicles.”

Automotive News reports that the Ram brand expects to sell 415,000 units by 2014, up from 280,000 in 2010.

The Dodge Dakota will end production in 2011 and will be replaced by an unnamed unibody pickup. A redesigned and re-engineered light duty, heavy duty and chassis cab are due in 2012.

Ram will also debut a new marketing campaign tonight called “My name is Ram.”
