2010 Toyota Prius

Honda is ready to unleash its sporty CR-Z hatchback hybrid in the U.S. in 2010. In fact, it’ll be so sporty that it will be the first hybrid offered with a 6-speed manual transmission.

According to a report by AutoCar, Toyota is planning a Prius coupe that will go head-to-head with Honda’s CR-Z (can’t say that we didn’t see it coming).

The Prius will most likely use the same 134-hp 1.8L VVT-i hybrid powertrain and the same platform as that wagon version. However, a more aerodynamic body and possible weight savings would offer better fuel-economy and a more zippy drive.

AutoCar says that the Prius coupe will be later joined by a Prius MPV.

Interesting battle: Toyota's hybrid system will probably beat Honda's in terms of MPG but Honda will more than likely be sportier.
