Tokyo 2009: Mitsubishi Concept PX-MiEV plug-in hybrid crossover gets 118 mpg

The Mitsubishi Concept PX-MiEV plug-in hybrid crossover has made its world debut at the 2009 Tokyo Motor Show. No word on whether Mitsubishi will ever make a production version of the car but we wouldn’t doubt it.
Power comes from two electric-motors at the front and rear wheels and a 1.6L DOHC MIVEC gasoline engine which works as a generator. Riding on Mitsubishi’s all-new S-AWC (Super All Wheel Control) system, the PX-MiEV returns an estimated fuel-economy of 118 mpg in U.S. terms.
It was reported earlier this week that Mitsubishi may use the technology from the PX-MiEV in the next-generation Lancer Evolution.
