Infiniti planning new entry-level model, will offer electric version

It was reported yesterday that Nissan is very serious about releasing a production version of its Land Glider Concept for the Infiniti brand. However, Takashi Nakajima, director of exploratory design for Nissan, said that the model is still five to 10 years away from becoming a reality.

According to AutoExpress, before we see any one-seater Infiniti electric-car, the Nissan owned luxury brand will offer a competitor to the Audi A3 and BMW 1-Series – and it will be electric. Sources said that Nissan is planning a new luxury compact hatchback entry-level model that will compete with 1-Series, A3 and the production version of the Lexus LF-Ch.

AutoExpress says that we can expect to see the electric car, along with its conventional gasoline powered engined versions, in 2012.
