Earlier this month, Chrysler Group LLC announced that it is splitting its Dodge brand into two different brands ““ the Dodge Ram Brand and the Dodge Car Brand. In an interview with PickupTrucks.com, new President and CEO of the Dodge Ram brand, Fred Diaz Jr said that the “DNA of the Ram brand will always have Dodge DNA in it.”
Diaz, who was appointed President and CEO of the Dodge Ram Brand less than two weeks ago, will also be the lead executive for the Sales organization in the United States.
“It”s my responsibility to make sure that I nurture the brand so it”s distinct and all about trucks,” he told PickupTrucks.com. “At the end of the day, the Ram [pickup] will still have some Dodge DNA to it. Anything that”s a real, true truck is part of Ram and the Ram brand going forward.”
The main point Diaz made in his 5-minute interview was that Ram trucks won’t immediately shift away from their Dodge foundation. However, he said that he has to figure out what the Ram-branded pickups will mean to the Ram nameplate.
“That”s another area I need to delve into and figure out,” Diaz said. “I certainly can”t see us marketing a Ram Ram.”
