Widow of Ohio officer sues FoMoCo, claims Crown Victoria engineering is at fault

Linda Brentar, a widow of an Ohio patrolman, is suing FoMoCo and claims that her husband’s death is the cause of engineering problems with the Ford Crown Victoria cruiser he was driving when it crashed into a pole and caught fire on Interstate 90 near Cleveland.
In a lawsuit filed this week, Brentar says that the fuel tank on the Ford Crown Victoria Interceptor is so vulnerable to puncture that it exploded and killed her 49-year old husband in 2007.
FoMoCo spokeswoman Marcey Evans said that the Crown Victoria is designed to have the highest rear-crash safety standards in the industry and that no vehicle can be expected to prevent all injuries in the type of collision that killed Brentar’s husband.
