Fritz Henderson - Chevrolet Camaro

During a live chat session with General Motors Company’s CEO Fritz Henderson last week on GM’s FastLane Blog, the head of the Detroit automaker was asked what cars he has in his garage right now.

Fritz replied that he owns a “Camaro, my 2005 corvette and a Saab 9-3 Aero Convertible.” Henderson did not specify which Camaro (V6, or the V8 SS) he owns, neither did he tell us what’s under the hood of his Corvette.

Either way, we just thought you guys would like to know.

So? They make him buy them. I remembered when the upper management at GM made their lower level management people to drive the Pontiac Aztec around Detroit area.

"they" make him, the CEO, buy a corvette and camaro? wow i wish i worked for a company that did that for me...maybe some people actually genuinely like GM cars. that couldnt be, could it?

My brother works for a supplier to the auto makers. As a part of his compensation he is given a car allowance, but only if the car he drives has one of their components in it.

From his perspective, it would be bad form not to drive a car with the company's product in it and it would look bad to the customers. Some of his peers feel like they are forced to drive a car that they would not otherwise choose. Either way, it doesn't mean that you like the car.

What I found interesting is that he didn't reveal the makes of the other cars he owns. Detroit auto execs are known for their affection for Italian styling.

Also, Lutz has a large garage that is filled with non-GM product. Maybe Fritz has only 3 cars, but I doubt it.

"I refuse to pay more than a couple hundred thousand dollars for a car, when I can get a military jet for $500,000." wow that is priceless, wouldn't it be nice...
