I’ve had my 2010 g37 convertible for only 2 months now. With the top down, it’s making the “styrofoam cooler in the back seat” squeak sound with every little bump. I think the problem is exacerbated by warm weather. And now, in cold weather, with the top up, it’s making a creaking sound in the roof. Both sounds are quite loud and very annoying. I’ve complained about it once to the dealer and got the “don’t worry about it” response. If I would have known it was going to be so awfully noisy, I would never have bought it. In my opinion, it makes a $50,000 car feel more like $15,000. I did test drive it extensively, and the noises did not come up then. Again, I think it may be dependent on the ambient temperature. I feel a bit better after reading the post that says they fixed the problem for someone. Since it sounds like I have the exact same problem, I’d like to hear exactly what they did to fix it. I’ll tell the dealer about removing a shim. Thanks!

bought my G37 convertible October 09 and had problems with the top getting stuck in the up and sometimes the down position . After several tries the problem was solved. My soft leather drivers seat is getting rub spots. I use leather products ever two weeks.you would think a 50 thou car seats would last at least through payments. My 6 year Nissan seats are fine.

Infiniti finally fixed the main problem. Ours developed to a clunk noise also. I left it at the dealer and they had the Corporate guys come out. They say they took a shim out. Before that they had tried silicone on the seals. Made a mess of my car. Do not do that to your car.

I have the same problem. Bought the 09 g37 in late october. Now after three months in cold weather it squeaks on every bump I hit (like a styrofoam cooler in the back seat). I have brought it in once and they told me that it was the same sound on the demo and a showroom model when they took it for a test drive. Therefore they just dismissed it as a “normal noise”. Just this week I noticed a clunk or rattle that acccompanies the squeak. My only suggestion is to try lubing up all the seals (apparently Mercedes has one that is very expensive but works on the SLK's). I agree about the $50K car comment-I'm in the same boat and just as annoyed.

I have the new convertible. I've had it 3 months now and it's developed a rattle or creak now with the top up. Very annoying. I don't remember it being that way when I bought it and Infiniti is still trying to figure out what's wrong with it. Curious if your test drive has the same issue. I figure a $50,000 car should be quiet when the top is up. Reason I replaced my soft top.

During your “test drive” can you try to flex the body on the G37. I am curious is the cobvertible will have any rattles or sqeaks as the car is brought over bumps. Please try to find a ramp such as a up or down ramp going into a hotel or shopping center. Slowly approach allow one front wheel to drop low / or higher while the rest of the car is level then slowly take the ramp see if there is any flexing creak or squeals coming from the hardtop. You can also do this with some driveways that go downhill then drop to the street.

I had a 2005 G35x that I named “RattleRocket” after the first two years. Everything rattled and sqeaked on that car. I now have an 2008 G37 which is a huge improvment in interior quality and rattles and squeaks. I am considering a 2010 G37 Convertible or another G37 coupe in the spring and I am curious if that hardtop will be quiet enough for me. Trust me I will take the car on a long test drive myself, but this is stuff that you should be looking for in a car.

Second question is how is the 7-speed ? My 2008 has the 5-speed and the car now only has 15,000 miles and sometimes I swear the damn thing slips and sometimes I feel a bit feedback not when changing gears but simply accelerating in gear. Still the G37 rules over any other car that is why I still purchased a second one after my first “RattleRocket”. Hopefully Infiniti is continuously improving quality and I will be a third time return buyer.

Compared to this, I can see how people think Acuras have too many buttons. However, I wonder if it is bc Acura has more toys to play w/?
