Porsche: Affordable model is top priority

Speaking to a German magazine, Wolfgang Duerheimer, head of development at Porsche, said that creating a model “significantly cheaper than the Boxster” is the company’s top priority. Volkswagen boss Martin Winterkorn has already said that he wants to make a model that is smaller than the Boxster.
According to reports, Porsche is working on producing its own version of the Volkswagen Bluesport concept, which V-dub launched at the 2009 Detroit Auto Show earlier this year.
The mid-engined Volkswagen roadster is powered by a 180-hp 2.0 TDI 4-cylinder common-rail diesel. Mated to a 6-speed DSG, the BlueSport Roadster averages a whopping 55 mpg.
