At the very least, he will be blamed if there are problems with the Vapor. It is more likely that the loss and replacement of Kurse will cause delay or as an excuse for the delay.

I was expecting that his reason for leaving was going to be one of the classics that he is going to spend more time with his family or to pursue other interests.
