Alfa Romeo 166 replacement to be built in the U.S., will share Chrysler platform

Sources have told Inside Line that Alfa Romeo will build a rear-wheel-drive replacement for its 166 sedan in North America. Fiat will most likely use the Chrysler 300C plant in Brampton, Ontario, for production of the model.
Codenamed project 169, the new big Alfa sedan will share a new Chrysler-built platform that will also underpin the next-generation 300C and Dodge Charger – however, Alfa’s version will feature a bespoke suspension and powertrains.
We’ve learned in the past that Alfa Romeo will now closely collaborate with Dodge in the future, which will now become a more sporty brand in the new Chrysler portfolio.
We’ll get more details when Chrysler releases its 5-year product plan in mid-November.
