A recent cars.com survey of 1,056 recent or soon-to-be car buyers shows that the majority would like to see cash-for-clunkers extended. Of the surveyed group, 42% indicated that they thought the program was a successful one despite the fact that only 10% of those surveyed actually participated.

Of those participants, 37% said they were originally inclined to buy used, but were swayed by the government program, 30% indicated no inanition to buy before the program was announced, and another 24% said that they had intended to purchase, but put it off until the program was implemented.

Few can reasonably argue the wild success of the program that depleted dealers inventories all over the country amidst a recession.

    Typical leaches – where's mine?

Pay for your own damn cars and stop looking for handouts – it only encourages the idiot politicians to spend more money when there isn't enough to cover our existing obligations.

Handing out “free” money was a success? Who wouldn't want a $3500+ discount on a car?
