Originally shown as the “Volkswagen 1-Litre Concept” back in 2002, Volkswagen has updated the study for the 2009 Frankfurt Motor Show. The car will make its official debut tomorrow, but some German media were shown early pictures and details over the weekend and that means some more leaks and early peeks for us.

According to AutoCar, the concept will now be known as the Volkswagen L1 Concept and will be powered by a 29-hp 2-cylinder diesel engine mated to a 7-speed DSG gearbox. It will achieve close to 160 mpg in U.S. terms.
