2010 Volkswagen Golf R

Like us, you’re probably upset at the fact that we won’t ever see the Volkswagen Scirocco R on our side of the world. Well, worry not because Volkswagen will offer us the new 2010 Golf R, which will make its debut at the 2009 Frankfurt Motor Show tomorrow.

The new Golf R shares its underpinnings with the new Scirocco R; however it adds Volkswagen’s 4Motion all-wheel-drive system. The 2010 Golf R also ditches its 3.2L V6 for the Scirocco R’s 2.0L TSI 4-cylinder engine making 265-hp with a maximum torque of 258 lb-ft. That allows for a 0 to 62 mph time of 6.5 seconds for the models mated to a 6-speed manual and 6.4 seconds for those mated with a DSG.

Oh and if you thought the 2010 GTI was aggressive, just follow the jump to see more images of the Golf R. Pricing and availability details will be announced closer to launch date. As always, stay tuned.

Oh, if you haven’t notice, these are all leaked images – more official details and high-res images coming soon.
