Mahindra diesel pickup

Mahindra & Mahindra is gearing up for the U.S. launch of its diesel pickup; however, we’ve always wondered how these compact diesel trucks would live up to the high-exceptions of American pickup buyers. Luckily, Mike Levine of PickupTrucks.com decided to get behind one of these small diesel pickups from India to give us the low-down on how they perform.

Mahindra said that it is hoping to sell around 45,000 units of the trucks in their first 12 months in the U.S. through a network of 300 dealerships. Pricing of the 2.2L diesel pickups will come in around $15,000 and $22,000.

By mid-2010, Mahindra plans to assemble the pickups in the United States.

Looks wobbly and rickety. Reminds me of the early Japanese pick ups.
