With only 35 of the 500 Alfa Romeo 8C Spider units coming over to the United States, we highly doubt we’ll ever get one in our press car fleet for a week. Not to mention we’re not friends with people who have an extra $299,000 to spend on a convertible Alfa Romeo 8C.

Either way, we’ll have to satisfy our needs through UK’s AutoCar, which recently took the new Alfa Romeo 8C Spider for a spin.

Refresher: Power comes from a 4.7 liter 8-cylinder engine producing 450-hp with a maximum torque of 354 lb-ft. Mated to a 6-speed automatic or manual, the 8C Spider goes from 0 to 60 mph in 4.6 seconds.
