We just learned earlier this month that GM was planning a Buick crossover for late 2010 with a range of fuel-efficient direct-injected gasoline engines and a plug-in hybrid model planned for 2011. The model was to be based on the outgoing Saturn Vue crossover.

Today, GM said that it will no longer produce the vehicle due to poor feedback from consumers, dealers and the press. Apparently, no one thinks a Saturn based crossover for the Buick brand is luxurious enough – we wonder why?

General Motors said that it will keep its plug-in hybrid powertrain for another model that will also debut in 2011. Likely candidates include the 2010 Chevrolet Equinox, GMC Terrain or the 2010 Cadillac SRX crossovers.
