Press Car of the Week: 2009 Porsche 911 Carrera S

Joining the 2010 Chevrolet Equinox this week in our press fleet is the new 2009 Porsche 911 Carrera S mated to the company’s new PDK dual-clutch 7-speed transmission. Last month we reviewed the 2009 Porsche 911 Carrera 4 with the PDK. This time, instead of focusing on Porsche’s new transmission, we’re going to focus on the Carrera S’s performance options.
Throughout the week I’ll go through different options like Sport, Sport Plus, PASM Sport, PSM and bunch of other things offered on the model and tell you what each one of them does to the car’s overall performance.
Power comes from a 3.8L straight-6 making 385-hp with a peak torque of 310 lb-ft. When mated to the Porsche Doppelkupplung (PDK) transmission, the 911 Carrera S goes from 0 to 60 mph in 4.3 seconds with a top speed of 186 mph.
So, join me this week as I drive the 911 Carrera S and ask me all the question you want through the site and Twitter (frequent updates will be available on Twitter as I Tweet and Drive).
