Hidden somewhere in the numerous media webchats going on around the Internet today, Senior Creative Designer at GM Richard Duff confirmed that Buick will be getting a new mid-sized sedan next year.

Asked whether Buick will get the Regal sedan in the U.S., Duff replied: “We’re going to have a new mid size sedan slightly smaller than LaCrosse next year but the name hasn’t been announced yet. More info to come.”

We’ll be bringing you updates throughout the day on the flood GM news coming out today. So stay tuned as we dig through Twitter and all the webchats.

Did anyone notice that no one gives a crap about Buicks?

Why did GM decide to save the Buick brand again?

china, remember your speech about the whole global economy?

GMfan87 – You can have the Buick brand in China without having it in the US.

Buick in the US has a reputation as a car purchased by old people or people purchasing their last car. Unfortunately, Cadillac has the same reputation and it has impacted their ability to get younger buyers to buy (the crest and wreath being the international symbol of old people or people that think like old people).

As a brand, Pontiac didn't have that rap and could have been moved up market more easily than Buick shaking the AARP endorsement.

the point of killing off pontiac (which i too wish hadnt happen) was to create a leaner company though…Buick's image will change in time, compare Caddy's image just a few years ago with today. no one would be sad about pontiac dying if it werent for the G8 anyways

trying to move pontiac up market would have had its challenges too…how many older professionals want a car from a car company that has a reputation for building cars for someone 20+ years their junior. pontiac does (rather, did) performance at a fair price not luxury

Buick also help GM in inital quality with JD Powers. I think the vehicles are great. I agree too that they should have kept Pontiac and just kept the models that sold well.
