During our visit to Porsche last month, we were surprised to learn that there is not one single Panamera in the United States ever since the model made its debut. Well, Porsche has just announced that the first 31 U.S. bound Porsche Panamera models are in the air and on their way to North America, where they will be seen for the first time by the U.S. public at a series of major events during the Monterey Peninsula Automotive Week (the week of August 9-16).

Those interested in checking out the Panamera in real can head over to the Quail Lodge, the Monterey Historics and the famed Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance.

“The cars were airlifted directly from Leipzig, Germany, where they are produced alongside the Cayenne sports utility vehicle using the most state-of-the-art production methods,” Porsche said.

The 2010 Porsche Panamera will go on sale at Porsche’s 202 U.S. dealers on October 17, 2009.
