Report: Toyota to supply Mazda with hybrid technology

Those unnamed sources familiar with the matter have done again. Japan’s Nikkei business daily, citing two unnamed sources familiar with the matter, is reporting that Toyota and Mazda are in talks over the possibility of Toyota supplying core components for future Mazda hybrid vehicles.
Nikkei reported that the two Japanese automakers are in the final stages of discussion and that plans for Toyota to supply Mazda with hybrid technology were likely to be announced soon.
The news sent Mazda shares flying 12.4 percent in early trading as the demand and popularity of gasoline-electric cars in Japan has increased thanks to tax incentives.
Toyota and Mazda both declined to comment on the report.
