it does suck that folks lost jobs but the hard truth is that the market simply cannot support the over saturation of car dealers we have seen spring up in the last 5-7 yrs. it seemed like with every new housing track there came a new auto mall, here in so cal often times there would be less than 10 miles between dealers of the same make. with overall sales droppin from 16 mill plus to 12 mil, too many dealers mean no one is able to really earn a living. congress wants to bow to the pressure of a few dealers however they dont care if the folks that stay working are actually earning anything....

This exactly the reason why government should stay out of business. Politicians make poor business mangers.

Also, there will be 200,000 jobs lost?

That seems high. I have read elsewhere that well qualified mechanics are being snapped up from dealers that are closing, that top sales staffers are finding new dealers to cheat customers at, but maybe sales managers are having trouble due to the smaller numbers of positions available.
