2009 Chevrolet Caprice (Middle East)

We already know that the much-loved Pontiac G8 may be rebadged as a Chevrolet Caprice. We actually found some additional details while digging through our notes from the live chat with Bob Lutz that we participated in earlier this week.

When asked if he would elaborate on potential plans to keep the Pontiac G8 and rebadge it as a Chevrolet Caprice Maximum Bob Lutz said: “The G8 has finally been discovered by a broader percentage of the buying public. The owners are ecstatic about them, many calling it the best sedan they’ve ever driven. We consider it too good to waste. So we’re studying the feasibility of bringing it in as a Caprice for both law enforcement and the public.”

So – would you rather be pulled over by a Dodge Charger, Chevrolet Impala, or a Pontiac G8 wearing a Chevrolet Caprice costume?

Let us know in the comments section below and check out our full review of the Pontiac G8 GXP and learn why everyone loves this American/Australian sedan so much.

The pictures posted of the Middle Eastern Caprice are based on a Holden Caprice, not a Holden Commodore which is the car the Pontiac G8 is based upon.

Really? I always thought the Chevrolet Caprice in the ME was based on the Commodore. Good to know.

I guess the pic at least gives us an idea of what to expect

I'll take the a GM badged G8…but please ditch the E class-esque grill and hood ornament.

At least there is a little hope for GM and its future products.

The Commodore/G8 based sedan sold in the Middle East is sold as a Chevrolet Lumina.

Law enforcement should be required to drive GREEN vehicles. In fact, all of government should be driving GREEN vehicles. Time for the preachers to practice what they preach.

So, to law enforcement: No rear wheel drive, V8 powered cars for you. Hybrids for everyone!!!

right on woody. EGM why not post pictures of a Commodore and/or Lumina and stop confusing everybody!

We've been enjoying these great value for money cars here (here being the GCC=Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Oman, Qatar, Kuwait and UAE) for a number of years now, especially the “Imapala & SS” type variants.
