2010 Porsche Panamera

Porsche and Nissan have been going at each other for a while now claiming to have beaten each other at Nurburgring Nordschleife lap times. In the latest development, the Nissan GT-R recently lapped Green Hell in 7:26.7. Nonetheless, that’s still a bit slower than the Chevrolet Corvette ZR1′s 7:26.4.

General Motors is also the proud holder of the title of having the fastest sedan go around Nordschleife with the Cadillac CTS-V completing the lap in 7:59. However, according to reports coming out of Germany, the new 2010 Porsche Panamera Turbo has taken the title from Cadillac.

It is reported that the new four-door Panamera Turbo recently lapped the 12.9 mile circuit in just 7:56. Porsche has yet to make an official confirmation so take this one with a grain of salt.

The Porsche Panamera Turbo carries a 4.8L turbocharged V8 making 500-hp with a maximum torque of 516 lb-ft. That allows the four-door Porsche to go from 0 to 60 mph in 4 seconds in Sports Chrono mode with a top speed of 188 mph.

Wow, if this turns out to be true that is quite an accomplishment. Gotta hand it to Porsche.

it better beat it at twice the price…impressive accomplishment for a 4-door though no doubt

kudos to cadillac too though for giving PORSCHE something to shoot at…

” Nonetheless, that’s still a bit slower than the Chevrolet Corvette ZR1’s 7:26.4.” Chevrolet has never officially sanctioned this ZR1 time, so why keep putting it up as factual?

  • GMfan87

i agree its not factual do to the lack of evidence. it probably should have been worded better to point out that its an unofficial time…however the ZR1's 7:29 time was just by an engineer on a quick hot lap…so it does seem probable that magnussen could pull off 7:26.4 pretty handily

why are you comparing the panamera to the ZR1? ZR1 competes with 911's.

3 seconds on an 8 minute lap doesnt matter…especially for these cars. You could easily attribute the difference to the drivers, weather conditions or tires etc etc…

he was talking about their reference to the ZR1 time…not comparing the two

well clearly this isn't too updated because recently Porsche released the time of their new GT2 RS that has 620hp from a small 3.6 liter flat-six that lapped Nurburgring in 7 minutes and 18 seconds. Unfortunately it is 245k. Honestly though if you look at the other cars in this price range (lamborghini gallardo lp-560 4 which i love and the ferrari f458 Italia also an amazing car) the Porsche slaughters them. So they have the fastest sedan and the fastest mid-200k range car.
    :) Porsche rules!!
