Report: Lexus working on IS-F Convertible, new replacement for SC430

Lexus IS C Convertible

Toyota/Lexus PR spokesman Curt McAllister said last month that Lexus has no plans to launch an IS-F C Convertible. However, CARandDRIVER is reporting today that inside sources have told them that an IS-F version of the IS C Convertible is in the works for early 2011.

The Lexus IS-F C Convertible is going to be powered by the same 5.0L V8 engine from the sedan making 416-hp. We expect the 0 to 60 mph time of 4.6 seconds to be reduced due to the added weight of the folding hard-top. The IS-F C Convertible should give Lexus some market to compete with the BMW M3 Convertible.

As for the SC430 convertible, sources say that Lexus is back to the drawing board with a “clean sheet of paper” for its replacement.

What about a roadster version of the Lexus LF-A? Sources say it’s highly unlikely to ever happen.

Big mistake. The IS is nice, but should stay as an entry level lexus. I say they shoulda beefed up the SC to market against the Mercedes SL's, SLR's and BMW 6-series.

The SC should have been redesigned 10 years ago.. Such a disgusting, fat, and demeaning car for Lexus that's overpriced..

The 0-60 time will be reduced due to added weight? Everything I knew about physics just went out the window.
