Report: Lexus working on IS-F Convertible, new replacement for SC430
Toyota/Lexus PR spokesman Curt McAllister said last month that Lexus has no plans to launch an IS-F C Convertible. However, CARandDRIVER is reporting today that inside sources have told them that an IS-F version of the IS C Convertible is in the works for early 2011.
The Lexus IS-F C Convertible is going to be powered by the same 5.0L V8 engine from the sedan making 416-hp. We expect the 0 to 60 mph time of 4.6 seconds to be reduced due to the added weight of the folding hard-top. The IS-F C Convertible should give Lexus some market to compete with the BMW M3 Convertible.
As for the SC430 convertible, sources say that Lexus is back to the drawing board with a “clean sheet of paper” for its replacement.
What about a roadster version of the Lexus LF-A? Sources say it’s highly unlikely to ever happen.
