According to a report (or rumor) by BestCar, Mazda may unveil the next-generation RX-7 concept at the 2009 Tokyo Motor Show in October.
Sources say that the RX-7 will relieve the RX-8 of its rotary-engine duties and will become the flagship rotary sports car. It will have a design theme influenced by the Nagare concept. While the RX-7 will make its debut in Tokyo in concept form, the car won’t go on sale until 2012.
“This year’s TMS is an opportunity for Mazda to cash in on RX-7 fever as rotary enthusiasts start to wonder what’s going to happen once the RX-8 ends its production cycle,” reports BestCar.
