Takanobu Ito

Honda is looking for a new direction with a changing of the guard with Takanobu Ito becoming the Japanese automaker’s new president and CEO. Ito, who take over from Takeo Fukui on June 25, takes over Honda who has fared better than domestic rivals Toyota and Nissan in the global economic downturn.

Ito is well known for his design on the chassis of the original Acura NSX sports car in the 1980s. Sources say that Ito has already shaken up Honda’s future product lineup, which we’ll see over the next two to three years.

Ito has also worked in the U.S  and was actively involved in the development of the first Acura MDX.
