Opel working on sport hatch Astra for 2011
The 2010 Opel Astra, scheduled to go on sale in Europe in early 2010, will see many different variants when it comes to the market. We’ve heard that a three-door version along with a high-performance OPC (or VXR for Vauxhall) are also in the works. A two-seater Astra convertible is also rumored to make its debut in late 2012.
According to AutoCar, Opel/Vauxhall are also working on a Astra Sport Hatch for 2011. It will arrive in 2011 and will carry a far more aggressive design theme than the 2010 Astra with a lower roofline.
“It will be a very dramatic execution and very, very close to the sketch. Think about the current three-door then think about where the new car will go, said Malcolm Ward, head designer.
Engine choices are expected to be carried over from the 2010 Astra lineup.
