Ivan - I think that you are correct about FWD. I have a contact that is a potential supplier to GM and he has been told that FWD is the future of GM. Based on what he has learned, he is of the belief that as RWD platforms are retired they are being replaced by FWD platforms.

I have always been of the opinion that Accura cannot be a tier 1 luxury brand without a V8 or RWD and the same will be true for Cadillac.

"Many think that the CTS is a 3-Series (or C-Class) rival, while others look at it as a true competitor to the 5-Series (or E-Class)."

This is just silly nonsense.

Cadillac needs to stick to rear wheel drive and keep the quality and performance on par with the BMW rivals which seem to be the benchmark. Bring back the Brougham as a S Class / 7 series rival, utilize turbocharging and supercharging and make sure that there is a hybrid version. Allow for 4 wheel drive and make sure it is a car that can be sold worldwide not just USA and Canada.
Add a Coupe version to run with the CL also. Add a convertible version of the coupe.
Make the CTS a little more like the BMW's. There is not a fold down seat option in the CTS-V which is an option on the M5. Spend some money on R&D and once again make Cadillac a world class benchmark product. It has been done in the past and it can be done again.

Last time Cadillac mentioned a 3-series fighter, they mentioned a FWD car. If that's Cadillac's idea of a a 3-series competitor then think again.
