Ford Iosis Max Concept

It’s very rare that any automaker would ever let one of us automotive ‘journalists’ get behind the wheel of a concept car. It seems like Ford of Europe made a little exception for UK’s AutoCar and let them take their only Iosis Max Concept for a spin.

The Ford iosis Max concept hints at the future design language for the next-generation Ford Focus and will also serve as the basis for the next-generation Ford C-Max along with a MPV for the United States.

Power comes from a 1.6L 4-cylinder EcoBoost engine that makes 180-hp and returns a fuel-economy that is 20 percent better than a conventional gasoline engine. Ford also added other fuel-saving technologies such as a PowerShift transmission and the new Auto-Start-Stop system, which is scheduled to debut in 2010.
