GM confirmed last month that it will offer a new direct-injected Ecotec 2.4L 4-cylinder engine in the 2010 Buick LaCrosse sedan. Alongside the two V6 options, the Ecotec 4-cylinder will allow the driver to average an estimated fuel-economy of 20/30 mpg (city/highway).

According to WardsAuto, GM has promised a front-wheel-drive hybrid version of the 2010 LaCrosse for its Oshawa, ON, Canada, assembly plant. Plans were supposedly revealed in the latest Canadian Auto Workers contract.

“We are always working on future applications for our hybrids,” he said. “The exact introduction plans (will) be announced later by Buick marketing,”  said James Frederico, GM’s global vehicle line executive. ”There is a future for alternative propulsion in our midsize vehicles, we’re just not at the point to share any details.”
