Lexus LS - Mercedes-Benz S-Class

According to a report by Auto Motor und Sport, Toyota is considering building versions of the Mercedes-Benz A-Class and B-Class on its own MC platform. The move will allow Toyota to better use its European plants in the long term.

The publications cited sours at Toyota’s Tokyo headquarters as saying that the two companies are looking into ways to share development cost and examine the possibility of a joint production of the Lexus LS and Mercedes-Benz S-Class sedans.

“It’s part of our normal business practice that we regularly talk to other carmakers but there are no specific projects planned at the moment,” a spokeswoman for Toyota Motor Europe said.

Damiler, on the other hand, called the report “speculation.”
